Athanae Lucev is an Australian yoga, pilates and barre teacher. She has led more than 2000 classes across Perth, Australia, and Tuscany, Italy.
Athanae believes movement is medicine; a kind of mediation in action. She understands the freedom found in a strong, healthy and happy body; in the benefits and joy of spending time immersed in nature; and in the communal power of good food and fun to fuel a truly satisfying life.
She aims to facilitate a safe and sacred place for self-awareness, exploration, play, education, growth and re-connection with the breath and the body, that allows clients to walk away feeling centred and renewed.
With experience teaching to all ranges of age, gender and ability in English and in Italian, Athanae is a capable, flexible, intuitive reader of groups and bodies. Her services include on-site private lessons at homes and villas either as a series or one off, hens parties or bridal showers, pre-wedding family yoga or pilates, and regular studio classes in Lucca and Perth.

Background
Athanae trained in classical dance in her early years, but after finishing school went on to study politics and work both as a journalist at The West Australian and a political press and policy adviser, ultimately specialising in gender equality and womens’ affairs. She has also consulted to not-for-profits including the Minderoo Foundation, Youth Focus and in-house at gtmedia.
As a founding director of start-up Green Smoothie Co. in 2013 she was at the forefront of the health food industry’s shift into the online retail space. Concurrently, she trained as a barre and mat pilates teacher before qualifying as a yoga teacher and farewelling corporate life. With an understanding of the demands and stresses of modern life, and having chosen to step out of that lane, Athanae’s classes act as a soothing antidote to the hectic pace so many of us have adopted as the norm.
A longstanding love affair with Italy that started when she began learning Italian at age five now sees her spending part of the year in Tuscany, and part in Western Australia, meaning she never misses a west coast sunset or a chance to roll out her mat near the beach.
